I then powered up the HP Compaq and selected F10 to enter setup. I popped the CD/RW disc into the drive and selected the option to “Flash System ROM”. After pressing F10 Accept a couple of times, I was greeted with a prompt asking me if I was sure I wanted to upgrade from version 2.09 to version 3.07? Wow, was this system out of date …. Since there was no “yeppers” option, I selected F10 Accept.
Now if something was going to go wrong, this isn’t where you wanted it to happen. An inopportune power failure and this machine is a toaster. No wait, that is incorrect. A toaster would be much more useful than a computer without a BIOS.
